First We Shape Our Values, Then Our Values Shape Us

Shaun Kober: Your values drive your daily behaviours, which create habits, which drive actions, which reinforce your values.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

Quite often, I've seen people struggle with any sort of major transition.

I went through this myself and I've seen this with a lot of my Military mates, and with sports teams/athletes and things like that. People that go through a major transition essentially lose their self identity, their purpose, their sense of direction.

So what I do regularly is an honest reassessment of what my values are, so I can pretty much align my actions and my behaviours with them.

Once I have my values written out on a sheet in front of me, then it is quite easy to identify actions I need to take on a daily basis and slot them into my calendar and schedule them in throughout the day.

For me, I'm going to typically do the things that are most important to me early in the morning, and the things that are least important to me, I'm going to push them towards the later stages of the day. That's simply because I've got most of my energy, and I'm at my

sharpest first thing in the morning. As the day wears on, then my cognitive ability starts to decrease.

You need to find what works best for you by paying attention to your naturally fluctuating energy levels throughout the day, then allocating tasks to the corresponding energy levels.

This was a game changer for me, and it likely will be for you also.

Make the most important thing, the most important thing!
